Planner Tour: 2015-2016 teacher and home planner

I am so excited I can hardly contain myself: my 2015-2016 planner is printed, assembled, and ready for use! I have been working hard on updating my planner for the next school year for months now, and I am so thrilled with the results. It may seem early to be talking about next school year, but I use a lot of my summer to plan out the upcoming school year, so I knew I wanted to have it printed and set up before the mad dash to the finish line got underway.

I decided this was the perfect time to jump into my first video, since there is so much to show you inside my planner. Sorry the quality isn't as clear as it should be- I promise I did my best! I have a lot to learn about video-making. In the meantime I hope the video is helpful and gives you a good sense of everything I have in my new planner!

Yesterday I shared how I set up my planner, including the binding system and accessories I use. If you missed it, you can check it out here:

The 2015-2016 line of planners is posted in my store as well! You can get the whole shebang like me or just get one or more sections, depending on your needs. I'm super excited about them! You can get the exact one I have (with several other pieces, like seating charts, recorder karate records, and a music classroom inventory spreadsheet) here:

  1. Totally love Arc and Levenger! I'm one of your biggest fans for that reason! Just today I blogged about my planner that I have in discs.

  2. Elizabeth,
What size margins do you use in your planner in order for it to work with this binding system? I have a few other pages I'd like to add to mine and I want to make sure they match. This is a great idea by the way! I've always wanted my planner to be spiral bound but was afraid that I'd quickly discover something I missed putting in there. This way it's not so permanent! Thanks so much!

    1. To be honest, I don't worry too much about margins. The printer always leaves a little white space around the outside anyway, and it doesn't really bother me if the holes go into the writing on the page. Because I can take pages out, I don't have to worry too much about the binding getting in the way when I'm trying to write either. That said, when I just checked it looks like the smallest margins I have are about a quarter-inch. I totally agree about the disc-bound system. I was the same way about spiral binding and I just do not like the bulkiness of binders!! Hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions!

  3. I really like your lesson plan template! Do you have your lesson plan template without the dates on them for download?

    1. Hi Kaye, thanks for your comment- I'm glad you like it :) I don't currently have the template without the dates available, simply because I update the dated planners with the new dates each year for free so I didn't see the need. If you have another reason to want an undated version, though, I am happy to work something out- send me an email at caldwell.organized.chaos@gmail.com so I can get a better sense of what you're looking for. Thanks for the suggestion and happy planning! :)

  4. Which arc binder do you have? is there a best one to purchase to go with your system in TPT? I'm loving all of your planner sheets, just trying to figure out all the things I need to purchase for it all to work!! Thanks for any help you can give!

    1. I have used different disc-binding systems over the years, but the one I linked in the set up post included above is my top recommendation for getting started. There really isn't one that works best with my system- it's all a matter of preference- many teachers have their planners printed and bound, or put the papers into a 3-ring binder. I prefer the disc binding because you can add and remove pages easily without the hassle of a binder. The only disadvantage I see with the disc binding is that you do have to buy a punch for it, but in that same post linked above I have a punch that is affordable and easy to use (https://caldwellorganizedchaos.blogspot.com/2015/04/how-i-set-up-my-planner-2015-16-planner.html)
